Reference:- Andy Bolt accused us of being easily panicked over a few hundred bushfires , which he says hardly qualify as "catastrophic ". He sounds particularly drunk in this news segment , though perhaps it is some obscure illness causing glossitis .
Not drunk are you Andy ? I hope not , but urge you to seek medical attention . It is actually becoming difficult to understand some of the words you articulate . Also , could you stop running that " memory of a goldfish " line ? Goldfish do have excellent memories . Probably better than many human beings . A fascinating study by Israeli scientists a few years back showed that the little buggers have excellent recall . This was later confirmed by a young Australian called Rory Stokes , down near where you grew up . I reckon you should run a story on Mr Stokes , as a tribute to Australian scientists . That's up to you , of course , but I would stop using your goldfish simile . If you are 100% wrong about something , it gives the impression that you know stuff all about anything else .
Anyway , here's something to consider , that you are welcome to use on your show .
Having myself been in many a dangerous or calamitous situation over the years , it has become obvious to me that people remain calm provided they have confidence in their leaders , and believe there are open lines of honest communication. Confronted with lies , denial , contradictory assessments and incompetent leaders people are very much prone to panic .
Well Andy , you can see the problem . It doesn't help when you rant about our most experienced firefighters being idiots . Perhaps you could suggest that you think ( with your breathtaking experience in the field ) that they may need to readdress some of their conclusions because of certain facts you feel they may have overlooked . Less likely to cause panic , do you think? Although not as newsworthy , granted .
Returning to goldfish ... my son , Ken Junior, points out that I did inform you about their excellent memories in a previous post . But I guess you must have forgotten .
Your comrade , Ken
