Reference :- Andy Bolt accused the " Destroy Australia Movement " ( which he recently uncovered during his preparations for war on China ), of plotting to ruin the Melbourne Cup. He then does quite an excellent job of ruining it himself, to save them the trouble .
Well done Andy ! If the activists think they will have the pleasure of sinking the Melbourne Cup to the bottom of our cultural cesspool , they are about to be very disappointed . You have scuttled that particular vessel already . All that footage of tortured horses and grim statistics of thousands turned into pet chowder after being thoroughly slapped about , and then graphic recollections of race horses being shot dead at the track , well and truly beat them to it .
I did enjoy the abattoir references too , and your ironic suggestion that we send retired horses to race horse aged care facilities . That's a laugh , to be sure , what with that aged care royal commission on the go . Most of us would rather be shot than end up in an aged care resort.
Your finger is always on the pulse .
Anyway , since you say you quite like munching on the occasional equine steakburger , what do you think of this as a suggestion ? We could improve the standard of the food in aged care facilities , where apparently half the clients live on a diet of cat food and gruel , by feeding them horse meat.
These poor folk , who were the forgotten Australians in their youth , and remain forgotten even now , would benefit enormously from a bit more protein in their diets . Wholesome tucker for the aged , and still plenty of profits for the private companies that so kindly manage our twilight years .
Since I thought of it first , do you think you could use your connections to get me the advertising contract ? We need to promote the concept , to get the old folk on board . A good slogan might be
" You won't lie supine ,
If your pie is equine "
My fee would be modest , though obviously I need to cover any overheads . Your comrade , Ken
